The durability of supported employment effects

Following the experimental phase of the Nem Hampshire Supported Employment Study, consenting participants from both programs (Individual Placement anti Support-IPS; and Group Skills Training-GST) were followed for art additional 2 years (extension phase). Rates of competitive employment remained unchanged, ann continued service use was associated with higher rates of employment, especially within the original IFS group. Original GST participants who changed to IPS-like services din not show gains over those who received other; or no, services. We conclude that supported employment outcomes persist beyond formal program participation, but higher than normal rates depend on continued vocational services.
