Preparation of CaB6 crystals by the floating zone method

摘要
CaB6 crystals were prepared by the RF-heated floating zone method. The growth rate was 30 cm/h because of the violent evaporation. The obtained crystal rods consisted of about ten crystal grains, but the grains had longitudinal cross-sections of several square/mm. Few inclusions were observed on the (1 0 0) cleavage plane. The compositions, impurities and the lattice constant were examined. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
