Magnetic properties of Cu-Permalloy granular alloy

Magnetization measurements were performed on Cu80Fe4Ni16 melt-spun alloys thermally treated at several temperatures up to 600 degreesC. The magnetization curves were fitted using the sum of paramagnetic and ferromagnetic contributions, where the paramagnetic component is given by a Langevin function weighted by a lognormal moment distribution. The average moment of superparamagnetic clusters was determined, ranging from 31 to 11000 mu (B), corresponding to average cluster sizes between 0.9 and 6.2 nm. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
