Effectiveness of CO2 sequestration in the post-industrual ocean

Sequestration of CO2 in the post-industrial ocean,:beginning in the year 2000, is compared to sequestration in the pre-industrial ocean. We employ a carbon cycle model that is based on an ocean general circulation model. More of the sequestered CO2 is returned to the atmosphere in the post-industrial case, but the large differences depending on location still hold. The predictions probably become unrealistic after a few hundred years because the model does not yet include the dissolution of calcium carbonate sediments.
