Sudden cardiac death in infants, children, and adolescents

Sudden cardiac death in the pediatric population is rare. However, when it does occur it is a devastating event that appropriately raises anxiety and concerns within the general community. This article reviews the entities that can be associated with sudden cardiac death in infants, children, and adolescents. In addition to briefly discussing some of the treatment modalities for these specific, entities, the authors advise general pediatricians and family practitioners as to how the children at risk for sudden cardiac death may be identified.
