Key Points 1. Adult-to-adult living donor liver transplantation is used increasingly to treat patients with end-stage liver disease. 2. Donor selection limits the use of living donor liver transplantation. Psychosocial assessment is a critical component of the donor evaluation. 3. There are no strict guidelines for the psychosocial assessment of potential living liver donors before and after donation. 4. The attitude toward living liver donation remains high. 5. Both short-and long-term psychosocial assessment of living liver donors is necessary after donation.
