摘要：

Reactions of 3-substituted 4,6-dimethoxybenzofurans with formaldehyde and aryl aldeydes in the presence of acetic acid and phosphoryl chloride respectively give new macrocyclic calix[3]benzofurans, predominantly with an unsymmetrical linkage pattern. Incorporation of a t-butyl substituent at the 3-position, however, leads to the formation of only a trimer with a symmetrical linkage pattern. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
