Blepharocalyxins A and B (1 and 2), novel natural products having two diarylheptanoids and a chalcone moiety were isolated from the seeds of Alpinia blepharocalyx K. Schum. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by intensive study of the 2D NMR spectroscopy. These compounds inhibited nitric oxide production in endotoxin-activated murine macrophages, J 774.1.
