摘要
Import of concepts, obsolete approaches or new original theories? contributes to a discussion about the state of and prospects for theoretical sociology in Russia. In particular, issues of borrowing outlandish theories and of the potentialities to produce own concepts of interest among Russian sociologists are discussed. The article pleads for a synthesis of imported concepts with developing previous approaches and producing new original theories emphasizing results of St.-Petersburg Russian sociological congress of 2000 and experiences of Novossibirsk School of economics and sociology. Recent decade is seen as a transition to new sociology mastering new approaches and building-up new concepts and paradigms. By combining three ways, prospects might open for social and political consent in the society, for economic growth, and an adequate ideological paradigm of social development. This paper describes the activities which achieved this result, based on a program with three main goals: Ease the transition for business owners; Activate public support for the law; Defeat tobacco industry efforts to undermine the law. Participants enrolled in an introductory educational technology course were taught how to develop an instructional plan as part of the course. An experimental group was provided with instruction on how to use the IPSRT while engaging in instructional planning. Results indicated that the experimental group demonstrated greater skill acquisition, showed more positive disposition, and reported higher perceived instrumentality of instructional planning. In terms of self-efficacy, no significant differences were found between the two groups. However, further analyses revealed that participants who were initially high in self-efficacy reported significantly lower self-efficacy following the tool intervention; in contrast, participants initially low in self-efficacy showed significantly higher self-efficacy following the tool intervention. Findings are discussed from a social-cognitive perspective. At follow-up the subjects also answered a questionnaire about their life situations. No significant change in average symptom level had taken place at follow-up. Seventeen subjects met the DSM IV criteria for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at both times. However, five subjects who met the PTSD criteria in the first study did not at follow-up, and the opposite was true for another five subjects. Fifteen subjects reported contact with psychiatric care during the past year. Unemployment and dependence on social welfare were high at follow-up. The unemployment rate of 32% was almost six times greater than that for the regular Swedish labor force but comparable to that of the whole Bosnian labor force in Sweden. Social contacts with the majority population were as common as with compatriots, but two-thirds of the subjects expressed a wish for more social contacts outside the family. Positive factors in the subjects' life situations were the housing situation and the fact that most subjects had at least reasonable knowledge of the majority language. However, a minority of the group still had no formal competence in Swedish, with negative consequences for labor market integration and social contact with Swedes. Two-thirds of the group had made no definite decision to stay in Sweden. Analytic processing - the focus of most previous decision making and cognitive developmental research - often produces responses consistent with those that have traditionally been deemed correct. Heuristic processing, by contrast, often produces judgments and decisions at odds with existing norms. In part because heuristic processing is the system's default," a large normative/ descriptive gap exists. In the present research, early adolescents, middle adolescents, and young adults solved probability, contrary-to-fact, and sunk cost decision-making problems. The normative/ descriptive gap decreased with age, but fallacious responses, assumed to reflect heuristic processing, were predominant across ages. "Framing" instructions to view the problems logically increased analytic processing and decreased, but by no means eliminated, the normative/descriptive gap. It is argued that by early adolescence, various heuristic processes and biases are firmly entrenched response tendencies that may represent overgeneralizations of strategies that are often adaptive. Prior to implementing decision-making interventions, the challenge of delineating conditions under which heuristic processing is adaptive and maladaptive must be met. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Inc.
