Transition to irregular dynamics of spiral waves under two-channel feedback

摘要
The effect of a feedback-controlled sequence of short light pulses on spiral wave dynamics in the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction is investigated. Each stimulus is applied at a moment that corresponds to the passage of a wave front through one of two measuring points located in the excitable medium. Such a two-channel feedback destroys the initially regular dynamics and results in several complex regimes such as localized irregular motion, "spatial intermittency," or an irregular drift. The experimental results are verified and complemented by numerical simulations performed with the two-component Oregonator model.
