Acylation of alcohols in an efficient manner using [N,N'-ethylene bis(salicylideneaminato)] manganese(III) chloride [Mn(III) salen complex 1] with anhydrides/acetic acid under novel heterogeneous media is reported for the first time. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
