Magnetic field dependence of the specific heat of UPd2Ga3

摘要
We have measured the specific heat in magnetic fields up to 6T of the heavy-fermion compound UPd(2)Ga(3) at temperatures below 20 K. From our data we obtain the field dependence of the antiferromagnetic transition thereby proving that the magnetic phase diagram of UPd(2)Ga(3) is similar to that of the heavy-fermion superconductor UPd(2)Al(3). Further, we derive the electronic contribution to the specific heat gamma as a function of field. As expected for conventional dense Kondo systems gamma is lowered in magnetic fields. We analyse our specific heat results in terms of the contributions from heavy electrons, crystalline electric fields and the lattice, and compare the behaviour with UPd(2)Al(3).
