摘要
It is known that the catastrophic oxidation of metals (COM) is comprized of two stages. rapid and super rapid. The present work is devoted to a theoretical analysis of the rapid stage. A model based on the concept of a liquid-channel grain-boundary structure (LGBS) is proposed. This model allows one to obtain a parabolic rate law of oxidation, which was observed experimentally. Calculated values of various kinetics parameters are given and compared to experimental data, which makes it possible to judge the applicability of the model.
