Single-particle diffusion coefficient on surfaces with Ehrlich-Schwoebel barriers

摘要
The diffusion coefficient of single particles in the presence of Ehrlich-Schwoebel barriers (ESBs) is considered. An exact expression is given for the diffusion coefficient on linear chains with disordered arrangements of the ESBs. This expression is applied to the usual ESBs, where the previous result for the ordered case is recovered, acid to a more complicated form of ESBs. The results are extended to surfaces having ESBs with uniform extension in one or both directions. All results are verified by Monte Carlo simulations. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
