An HAS study of laser irradiation of alkali-covered dielectrics

摘要
The effects following irradiation of an alkali-covered (40 monolayers) dielectric surface by a continuous laser (lambda = 514 nm, P-L less than or equal to 4 W cm(-2)) are investigated non-destructively via helium-atom scattering (HAS). By inspection of the magnitude of the change in the specularly reflected helium intensity we determine the laser-induced changes in the surface temperature with an accuracy of Delta T =1 K. The results agree quantitatively with theoretical predictions from a numerical solution of the heat equation. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
