Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is changing with the rapid increase of information on the efficacy of old and new antirheumatic agents. This article provides an opinionated review of the data currently available and makes a case for rapid and aggressive treatment of all patient with RA as early as possible. In the future, corticosteroids will be an important component of such treatment strategies.
