(Figure Presented) Peptide-DNA recognition: The specific binding of peptides to DNA representing a section of the binding sequence of a transcription activator has been demonstrated for the first time at the single-molecule level with AFM (experimental principle, see picture). The results underscore the importance of peptide length and cooperative effects as well as the contribution of single-point mutations on specific binding. © 2005 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
