Abundant oxygenates in the atmosphere: A biochemical perspective

摘要：

The biochemical and physiological processes that control C1-C3 oxygenated volatile organic compounds (oVOC) release to the atmosphere were studied. It this regard, the release of methanol from plants was discussed. The gas exchange event in plant cell wall and wounding events of leaves and stems cause release of methanol to the atmosphere. The root metabolism of plants as a source for atmospheric acetaldehyde was also presented.
