摘要
The acoustic emission (AE) technique is undergoing a revolution in terms of its scope and capabilities. Advances in instrumentation, sensors, signal analysis and data fusion techniques have provided enhanced understanding of AE signal propagation in terms of guided acoustic modes. The modal technique also provide researchers with an improved understanding of the sources and propagation of AE and offers potential for sensor reduction, increased source location accuracy and, given an appropriate understanding of the acoustics of a specific installation, an insight into the origin of the source.
