Micellar properties of nonionic saccharide surfactants with amide linkage in aqueous solution

摘要
The aqueous solution properties of n-decyllactobionamide (C(10)Glu(2)) and n-dodecyllactobionamide (C(12)Glu(2)) have been characterized by surface tension, light scattering, and NMR methods. Compared with polyoxyethylene-based surfactants such as polyoctaethylene dodecyl ether (C(12)E(8)) and polyoctaethylene decyl ether (C(10)E(8)), the areas occupied per molecule of C(10)Glu(2) and C(12)Glu(2) are smaller, and there is some correlation between cmc and area per molecule. The micellar sizes of C(10)Glu(2) and C(12)Glu(2) are comparable with those of C(12)E(6) and C(12)E(8), but the numbers of water molecules per Glu(2) are greater than those per ethylene oxide group. In addition, from relaxation rate measurements with NMR, the motion of C(19)Glu(2) and C(12)Glu(2) micelles has been discussed.
