摘要
Future European emission standards force a dramatic decrease of the emissions of heavy duty diesel engines. Current research is focused on technologies to reduce NOx and particulate matter emissions. This paper presents first results of NOx and PM reduction, using a SINOx SCR system (SINOx is a brand name derived from Siemens and nitrogen oxide) in combination with different engine technologies. It is shown that even with today's engine technology and engine calibration a compact SCR system is able to reduce NOx to meet the emission limits expected for 2008. With a combination of a PM-optimized engine with an enhanced SINOx system it is demonstrated that both, the PM and NOx limits expected for 2008 can be achieved reliably. The status and the results of long-term experience with SINOx in field tests is also presented.
