Biotechnology development in Hong Kong: infrastructural support for the biotechnology and related industries

As a financial and manufacturing centre in the Pacific Rim, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has a strong potential to develop biotechnology. We describe the academic developments and manpower training of HKSAR and give an overview of the development of biotechnology-related infrastructural facilities: (a) incubator facilities for start-up, (b) GMP-related support facilities, (c) databases and information support, (d) technology centres, and (e) Traditional Chinese Medicine quality control laboratories.
