Sex differences in length of survival with malignant astrocytoma, but not with glioblastoma

摘要：

In a retrospective analysis based on a malignant glioma databank, we describe effects of age, sex and diagnosis upon survival in patients with malignant cerebral glioma with a pre-treatment Karnofsky-index of 60 or more. All patients had been treated with 55-60 Gy radiotherapy and nitrosurea-based adjuvant chemotherapy. We found an age-dependent sex effect upon survival in grade III astrocytoma patients, but not with glioblastoma.
