The vibrational frequencies, molecular geometry and thermodynamic properties of the actinide tetrahalides

摘要
The molecular structure of a number of actinide tetrahalides is deduced from a thermochemical analysis of vapour pressure measurements. For this analysis a set of consistent spectroscopic data and molecular constants is presented based on recent results of infrared spectroscopic measurements for UCl4, UF4 and ThF4, that are discussed briefly, and empirical correlations for MX4 molecules. The results offer no evidence far deviations from a tetrahedral symmetry. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
