Clinicians tend to attribute acute viral infections in transfused patients to transfusion despite unprecedented viral safety An increasing proportion of blood product recipients are immunodeficient or immunosuppressed and susceptible to viral reactivation of previous infections. This presentation will examine how to discriminate between transfusion-transmitted and reactivated viral infections.
