Description of the magnetic phase diagrams in NdZn

摘要
The NdZn cubic compound is an antiferromagnet displaying strong quadrupolar interactions, which lead to complex (H, T) magnetic phase diagrams. All the numerous observed structures are multiaxial and the values of critical fields are essentially determined by these quadrupolar interactions. Calculations, within the mean field approximation, taking account of both bilinear and quadrupolar interactions, in the presence of the crystalline electric field splitting, are presented, which describe quantitatively the properties of NdZn.
