Recently, much attention has been paid to inhomogeneity in samples of the high-temperature superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta. In this work it is shown that homogeneous samples can indeed be obtained in the slightly overdoped range. However, the homogeneity critically depends on sample preparation. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V.
