A lesson for the future - Young people's hopes and fears for tomorrow

This article explores the importance of recent and current research into popular images of the future, It begins by reviewing the main literature on adults' and young people's views of the future and then goes on to describe the findings of a recent UK research project. This examined how 7-18-year-olds see the future at personal, local and global scales. The responses of different age groups are examined as well as variations based on gender. Finally, the significance and importance of this research for futurists and educators are emphasized.
