Neutron diffraction measurements of residual stress in a powder metallurgy component

摘要
Residual stresses in a typical industrial green component were determined using neutron diffraction. The measured residual stresses were found to correlate with cross-sectional variations. Residual stress at the edge of the compact in contact with the die wall during compaction reached up to +80 MPa (tension) and -100 MPa (compression). (C) 2005 Acta Materialia Inc.
