摘要
Quantum Hall effect was studied in terms of topological invariant known as Chern number. The Churn number is topological in the sense that it is invariant under small deformations of the Hamiltonian. The thermodynamic properties of the 2D electron gas in Hofstadter's model were also determined by three parameters: the magnetic flux, the temperature, and the chemical potential, which fixes the electron density.
