摘要
What is believed to be the world's longest seagrass was collected in a bay of northeastern Japan. Flowering specimens of Zostera caulescens Miki had lengths of up to 7 m, with a typical length of 4.8 m. The flowering shoots produced a proliferation of vegetative leaves at the top of stem. Flowering shoots take one year to mature and develop spadices, overwintering in the bed. The habitat of Z. caulescens extends to a depth of 16 m. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
