Photochemical deposition of platinum on TiO2 by using poly(vinyl alcohol) as an electron donor and a protecting polymer

摘要
Platinum particles were photochemically deposited on TiO2 by using poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) as an electron donor and a protecting polymer. TEM and EXAFS studies showed that diameter of Pt particles prepared in H2O solution with PVA was smaller than that prepared in H2O/ethanol mixture with or without PVA, and the Pt particles had each particle diameter between 1.0 and 2.0 nm and good dispersity of particles on TiO2. The Pt/TiO2 catalyst prepared in H2O solution with PVA showed the highest activity for CO photooxidation, and the order of the activity was the same as that of the Pt particle size.
