The irradiation of unsaturated halides in the presence of triethylamine leads to the formation of the corresponding cyclized products. This photoreductive cyclization has been used to synthesize the bicyclic core of (+/-)-bisabolangelone. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. AU rights reserved.
