Detecting the Higgs bosons of minimal supergravity with muon pairs

The prospects at the CERN LHC are investigated for the discovery via decays into muon pairs of neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supergravity model. Promising results are found for the CP-odd pseudoscalar (A(o)) and the heavier CP-even scalar (H-o) Higgs bosons at large tan beta = nu(2)/nu(1). For tan beta greater than or similar to 10 and 100 GeV less than or similar to m(A),m(H) less than or similar to 550 GeV, the A(o) and the H-o masses could be precisely reconstructed from the dimuon invariant mass.
