摘要：

Photovoltaic electricity is an ideal option to supply rural areas which are not yet electrified. The Solar Home System is a solar technology that provides specific technical solution for rural electrification. It is estimated that between 100,000 and 200,000 Solar Home System units were sold in 1997. This article discusses the successful Solar Home System and larger hybrid systems for power supplies. Hybrid systems may be a diesel generator, a photovoltaic generator and possibly other generators for wind energy or hydroelectric power, which complement each other in supply power.
