摘要
Infrared spectroscopy is proving to be a powerful tool for the study and diagnosis of cancer. The application of infrared spectroscopy to the analysis of cultured tumour cells and grading of breast cancer sections is outlined. Potential sources of error in spectral interpretation due to variations in sample histology and artefacts associated with sample storage and preparation are discussed. The application of statistical techniques to assess differences between spectra and to nonsubjectively classify spectra is demonstrated.
