摘要
Many years ago, when I was little, my companions and I sang a song called 'Three Little Words'.(1) I don't know if anyone remembers this song but I want to talk about three not-so-little words in this set of papers; The first one is discipline, the second is learning (though I would rather talk about understanding), and the third is community. Each of these terms is complex and problematic, and combining them, as 'Fostering a Community of Learners' (FCL) tries to do, is a formidable challenge. Furthermore, as several papers have suggested, it is especially problematic to go from the phenotype, which would be some of the component activities, to the genotype, which is an integrated set of principles that work together comfortably, perhaps even seamlessly. With reference to each of the terms, I want to conclude with a question that still needs to be addressed.
