Surface charge of 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (TPM) coated Stober silica colloids by zeta-phase analysis light scattering and small angle neutron scattering

摘要
Hard sphere colloidal dispersions are a reference model system for both thermodynamic and rheological properties of colloidal suspensions. The search for a reproducible synthesis of a stable, model Brownian suspension is presented. TPM-coated silica is examined by zeta-phase analysis light scattering and small angle neutron scattering to determine the surface charge in solutions. Parameters extracted from the analysis provide estimates for the charge on the particles. The results from analysis verified and estimated the size, shape, and homogeneity of the particles.
