Fractographic interpretation of the fatigue crack propagation behavior of polystyrene and polystyrene/polyethylene blends

摘要
Fractographic interpretation of the fatigue crack propagation behavior of polystyrene (PS) and polystyrene/polyethylene (PE) blends was reported. Large dimples were formed in front of the crack tip with radial growth from the point they initiate. Results suggested that the absence of fatigue striations at high fatigue crack growth rates (FCGR) in the PS/PE blends with a PS matrix was the result of the presence of the PE particles which facilitated the formation of dimples in PS matrix.
