The anomalous behavior of Al-Cu-Fe quasicrystal during nanoindentation

摘要
Nanoidentation of Aluminium alloy quasicrystals was carried out to study the phase transitions under the identor. The curves for identor displacement versus load were studied. The temperature-hardness curve was drawn and extrusion of the material from the indent was also studied. Plastic deformation resulted in a quasicrystal to crystal transition to form a crystalline phase.
