Disordering in Li2TiO3 irradiated with high energy ions

摘要
The disordering in the fused lithium metatitanate (Li2TiO3) irradiated with high energy ions (160 MeV Xe, 80 MeV O) was examined by room-temperature X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. The exposure of Li2TiO3 to Xe ions at fluences of 3.3 x 10(16) and 3.4 x 10(18)/m(2) was found to cause complete disordering in its surface layer, unlike the surface layer exposed to O ions up to maximum fluence of 1.4 x 10(20)/m(2). An extent of disordering with irradiation is associated with the electronic stopping power of the incident ions in Li2TiO3 rather than the fluence and accumulated radiation dose.
