摘要
Genetic variability within peach cultivars is very limited. The current breeding is based on a few varieties closely related. Spanish peach germplasm could be an alternative source to increase genetic diversity. Characteristics regarding fruit quality of eleven clonal selections from five native-populations from Spain were studied. Fruits were non-melting, highly colored yellow, clingstone, had good size, high soluble solids content and low acidity. Low chilling cultivars were not present in the native populations studied. Genetic variability was studied using RAPD markers. Variability found was higher than reported with isozymes but lower than reported in a study based on RAPD markers that included peaches from Asia. Increasing diversity within peaches would be most desirable.
