摘要
An amperometric sensor is described for monitoring hydrogen in situ in high-temperature high-pressure aqueous solutions (T<300 degrees C). For a constant cell voltage, the current is found to vary linearly with the square root of the hydrogen concentration in the water. This dependence may be rationalized by assuming that the rate-determining step is the oxidation of atomic hydrogen on the platinum surface. A modification of this sensor is suggested to permit the monitoring of hydrogen at temperatures above 300 degrees C.
