Cobalt/copper multilayers studied by perturbed gamma-gamma angular correlation spectroscopy

摘要
Thin films and multilayers of cobalt on Cu(100) and Cu(111) have been studied using the time-differential perturbed gamma-gamma angular correlation (PAC) technique. The In-111 probe isotopes were found to migrate to the surface of the film when new layers were deposited or during annealing. The electric field gradients and local magnetic fields for several sites have been measured. Evidence is presented for the existence of the probes in a monolayer-thin capping layer of copper which forms on top of cobalt films after moderate heat treatment.
