Laser-heated pedestal growth of Er3+-doped Gd2O3 single crystal fibres and up-conversion processes

摘要
We have grown erbium-doped Gd2O3 single crystal fibres by the laser-heated pedestal growth technique. Green up-converted fluorescence was obtained under CW laser excitation in the 780-860 nm range. Its dynamics is mainly explained by 'addition de photons par transfert d'energie'. Two other processes, the two-photon absorption and the looping mechanism, were found to have a less important role, at least at 797.2 nm excitation. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
