Influence of climatic conditions on the carbonation of quicklime

摘要
The influence of relative air moisture, temperature, and concentration of CO2 on the carbonation of CaO have been studied in normal climatic conditions. The CaO used for this original work is a granular material prepared by calcination of pure CaCO3, The influence of time and mechanical treatment has been studied, too, to obtain a complete carbonation, A model of hydration and carbonation has been established to explain the observed phenomena. This work was carried out with the view to defining the optimum conditions for the storage of quicklime. The results show that the risk of carbonation of quicklime are low in usual manufacturing industry conditions.
