Formation of ruthenium colloid in ethylene glycol

摘要
Ruthenium metal colloid was produced by the reduction of RuCl3, in ethylene glycol. The metal particles observed by TEM had uniform shape and size, less than 5 nm in diameter The particles agglomerated easily at pH higher than 3. When the pH value of the solution was decreased to 2, the colloidal particles were dispersed well due to the increase of the surface charge.
