Investigation of thermal residual stresses in tungsten-fiber/bulk metallic glass matrix composites

摘要
Neutron diffraction and finite element (FE) modeling are used to investigate the thermal residual stress in W-fiber/bulk metallic glass-matrix composites. Results show that the W fibers are severely textured having a 〈1 1 0〉 texture along fiber axis. An elastic FE model predicts the thermal residual stresses. This suggests that both the fibers and the matrix effectively behave as elastic materials.
