摘要
The excited atom approach is used to investigate core hole relaxation energies R in noble and transition metal alloys. It is found that relaxation shifts DeltaR are determined predominantly by changes in the d electron count and are insensitive to interatomic charge transfer. The approximation DeltaR approximate to Deltaalpha/2, where alpha is the "Auger parameter", is found to give a poor estimate of relaxation energy shifts in these systems. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V.
