Myostatin is a recently described negative regulator of skeletal muscle mass. This paper hypothesizes a role for this system in cardiac cachexia and insulin resistance and osteoporosis associated with advanced heart failure. (c) 2007 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
